Are you in need of some pampering, but can’t find the time or money to get away for a spa day? Treat yourself to a fun peppermint pedicure with these recipes for three easy beauty products.
Peppermint Foot Soak Recipe
- 1/2 cup of coarse Kosher salt
- 1/2 cup Epsom salt
- 2-3 drops of food coloring
- 4-6 drops peppermint essential oil
Combine all of the ingredients, mixing well. Pour into a jar with a lid. Use 1/2 cup of the salts in a tub of warm water for soothing tired feet.
Peppermint Foot Scrub Recipe
- 1/4 cup course kosher salt
- 1/3 cup almond oil
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- 4-6 drops peppermint essential oil
Combine all ingredients and pour into a jar with a lid. Place a few tablespoons of the scrub into your hand and massage the mixture into your feet. The scrub is great for heels and other rough patches.
Coconut Peppermint Foot Lotion
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 4-6 drops peppermint essential oil
Beat the two ingredients together until they are frothy. Rub the lotion onto your skin, then put on a clean pair of cotton socks to help it absorb.
A DIY peppermint pedicure is my favorite way to unwind after a busy week. These products are easy to make, very inexpensive, and work just as well as most of the store-bought products I’ve tried in the past.
If you packaged them in mason jars decorated with cute labels, these homemade pedicure products would make great gifts for a friend or family member. I think they’d be especially cute for a teen girl to give to her friends for Christmas, since the peppermint smell instantly brings to mind an association with candy canes.
If peppermint isn’t your thing, you can substitute another essential oil blend to fragrance your concoctions. However, since coconut oil does have a strong coconut smell on its own, you will want to choose something that blends well with this fragrance.
Have you ever tried making your own beauty products? If so, what are your favorite recipes?
