It’s summertime! And that means the house is going to be infiltrated by screaming children, messy ice cream, and the wet bathing suits.

And while you might want to be able to clean all of this up, you know you don’t have time to get it all done. You’ll need to steal a few minutes here and there to keep the house at least remotely picked-up.

This one-minute bathroom scrub will have your bathroom spic-and-span in very little time and if you follow Martha Stewart’s stain removal practices, laundry should be a bit easier as well.

Real Simple has produced a daily cleaning checklist that should, at most, take you about 20 minutes. You don’t have to do it all at once, and you might not even be able to do it every day, but the checklist is a great format because you could even cut it apart and hand it off to the kids.

Baseboards are the bane of my existence. We have a hate-hate relationship, because just as soon as I wipe them down, they’re dirty again. That’s how I know they hate me. But based on this article, it seems fabric softener might be the cure to my ails.

And this list of 10 Household Cleaning Quick Tips includes tips on cleaning blinds (another thing I hate), glass shower doors, and broken glass.

I also happen to be a big believer in the lemon juice and baking soda combination; and now I have 50 more uses for it (though I was already doing some of these).

LOVE the Real Simple checklist – it reminds me to continue my quest of “if it takes less than 2 minutes, just do it immediately.”

Could anyone recommend a good, sturdy vacuum for the stairs? I usually use a Eureka Boss (and use the hose and attachments for the stairs), but have broken three hoses in about six years. I need something sturdy and light!
