It seems that braids are always popular in the summer … and I see them everywhere. From little kids all the way up through adults.
And while I think that, as an adult you have to be a little bit careful about how you wear your braids, it can be done tastefully and elegantly. But my trouble has never been envisioning the look I was going for; it’s always been how to make it happen.
Possibly the single most popular braid of the season is the “fishtail” braid. Done with two strands of hair rather than three, in theory it would seem to be easier to create. However, my fingers just don’t want to cooperate … my daughter, on the other hand, can whip one out in about 60 seconds flat. It’s a cute look though, and I can see why it’s popular.
I love, love, love this low-set, messy, side french braid … it reminds me of fields full of flowers and all sorts of romance. It would look stunning with a casual dress and sandals on a date night with the hubs … this is another option for a side braid, which comes up over the head in more of a “headband” sort of look. Very soft, very summery.
Loved the look of Katniss’s braid in The Hunger Games? Also very doable, particularly with this tutorial over at Makeup Geek.
