I’ve talked a lot on this site about moving away from school lunches and getting creative with your kids’ food so they’re not spending their days trading carrot sticks for packaged cupcakes.

This book, written by Kate McMillan and Sarah Putnam Clegg not only has all sorts of tasty treats described, but they’re all kid-approved. And that’s a big deal when you’re sending Sally to school with hummus and olives.

There are a variety of recipes included, that cover everything from breakfast-y inspired snacks (Fruitwiches and Homemade Granola Bars) to lunch (Make-Your-Own Taco Salad and Fiesta Veggie Wraps).

And honestly, it’s not just for kids! How often do you open your lunch bag and just sigh at the sight of yet another plate of leftovers or the turkey sandwich that you threw together three minutes before you walked out the door?

Exactly my point.

Earning five-star ratings from parents, this hardcover volume is available in a hardcover version from Williams-Sonoma or as a digital edition via the iBookstore. And as much as I love my iPad, I almost think I’d buy the hardcover edition, simply because it’s easier for the kids to thumb through when they’re helping pack tomorrow’s lunch!

Yum!  I’d love to have someone make it for me! :)

Will definitely have to check this book out. I try to vary my kids lunches — sometimes packing things like California rolls for lunch — and this book will really help!
