Have you ever been super tired but just can’t fall asleep? I do all the time. I have insomnia so I really need my bedroom to be a place of peace and serenity. I need my bedroom to literally help me to fall asleep.

I don’t expect my bedroom to be a miracle worker but it needs to be a place that is actually conducive to sleeping. I’ve had our bedroom in shades of green because it is supposed to be calming. I was still suffering from insomnia.

I have done our bedroom in blue because it’s supposed to be peaceful. Insomnia was still ever present. I started feeling like nothing I could do to my room would be helpful. It wasn’t like I had it painted fire engine red. There was no stimulation of any kind going on but I just couldn’t fall asleep.

There is a growing trend to make your bedroom completely neutral. By using a pale palette and unfussy, demure details like neutral shades of cream, blues and grays we can make the room feel serene but not boring.

Instead, you end up with a classy, yet clean design and peaceful room that feels inviting to the weariest of insomniacs.

What decorating tricks do you use to help your bedroom be sleep worthy?
