Spice Up Dull Family Gatherings With a Game of Bingo
Whenever my extended family gets together for the holidays, we always play Bingo for candy or small prizes. It gives us something to do instead of sitting around trying to think of appropriate conversation topics, plus it’s a game that the kids and adults enjoy equally.
Our Bingo set is getting kind of ragged from years of use, so I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement. I love this Front Porch Classics State Fair Bingo set.
The cards are made from sturdy cardboard instead of flimsy paper and have windows you can slide over when the number is called so you don’t need to worry about losing your Bingo counters.
I also like that the cage is made from metal instead of plastic since plastic game components never seem to hold up long around active children.
If you decide to start playing Bingo during your holiday celebration, here are some of the prizes that have gone over well with my family:
- King size candy bars
- Jars of mixed nuts
- Travel flashlights
- Car air fresheners
- Foaming hand soap or hand sanitizer
- Deck of playing cards
- Word search or crossword puzzle book
- Coloring books and crayons (for the kids)
- Stickers (for the kids)
- Cool pens or pencils (kids and adults alike both seem to like this!)
You can either have one person pick out all of the prizes or have each person bring a prize to add to the pile before you start to play. Since we don’t exchange gifts for cost reasons, sometimes we wrap the prizes to make it seem a bit more festive.
