Horse really has nothing to do with horses, just in case you were wondering. It is a competitive, usually two player variation on shooting hoops and there are numerous different ways to play. If you are playing Horse with someone for the first time be sure to go over the rules so that both of you are playing by the same ones.
You can play with more than one person if you want to; it will just take much longer to finish the game. Think of it as sort of a basketball version of follow the leader.
You will need a basketball, a hoop, and a friend. You’ll also need some good basketball moves. For this reason, if for no other, this game is great to play as a way to practice your shots.
- Play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who takes the first shot.
- Player one attempts to get the basketball through the hoop using any basketball technique he likes.
- If he makes the shot, the other player must also make the same shot, using the same moves. If the player misses or changes the shot in anyway the first player gets the letter “Hâ€.
- If the first player misses his first shot the other player gets to take over as leader and “call the shots†so to speak, until he misses a shot.
Play is continued until one player has accumulated the entire word, “horse†or until the streetlights come on, whichever comes first.
