Quick and Easy Healthy Meal Ideas

If you’re looking for low-cal, sensible meal ideas, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to 200-300-400 Calorie Meals is worth checking out. This book features recipes for sandwiches, wraps, soups, snacks, and beverages at the 200, 300, or 400 calorie mark so that it’s easy to plan out balanced meals for the day.

Some of recipes featured include:

  • Pumpkin-Spiced Pancakes
  • Waffle Ham Sandwiches
  • French Toast Casserole
  • Mango Power Smoothie
  • California Crab Salad
  • Pulled Chicken Sandwiches
  • Buffalo Chicken Tenders
  • Peanut Butter Banana Roll-Ups

If you can’t cook or just hate to spend any more time in the kitchen than absolutely necessary, this is the book for you. About half of these recipes are so easy to make that an experienced cook would hesitate to call them recipes.

My grandma would probably refer to something like that as something she just “whipped up” in the kitchen with a pinch of this and a dash of that.

As a mom, I appreciate that there aren’t a lot of weird ingredients in this book. I’m too lazy to cook separate meals for me and the rest of my family, so any low-cal dish has to past muster with my son and my husband. Even if your family is as picky as mine, you could probably get them to eat most of these recipes.

It would have been nice if there were pictures of the various recipes featured in this book, because I often pick meal ideas by flipping through the pages and choosing whatever looks yummy.

However, the recipes are neatly organized by type and the titles are descriptive enough that you can make an educated guess as to what might fit your needs.
