Netflix Spotlight: Percy’s Chocolate Crunch
If you have Netflix instant streaming video and young Thomas fans at home, you’ll definitely want to add Percy’s Chocolate Crunch to your Instant Queue.
When my son was in preschool, we had the book and the DVD version of this story. They both ended up being worn out from overuse.
For about three months straight, he wanted to watch the movie at lunch and have me read the story at night before he went to bed. In the morning, he’d reenact the story with his toy trains.
Percy’s Chocolate Crunch tells about how Percy, the youngest of the trains, is upset because there is a water shortage and Sir Topham Hatt won’t let him have a washdown. But, after Percy accidentally runs headfirst into the wall of a factory and ends up covered in chocolate, he gets his washdown and ends up squeaky clean.
Before he gets clean, however, the other trains make fun of him and call him “Bon Bon Percy” – which my son found hysterical.
At the height of my son’s obsession with Thomas the Train, we had about 30 different DVDs. Percy’s Chocolate Crunch was one of the few that didn’t make my husband and I want to bang our heads against the wall.
It’s an entertaining story with the power to calm fussy kids and grant parents a few blissful moments of peace and quiet – which makes it a surefire winner in my book.
Do you have Thomas fans in your house? If so, what episodes do they like the best?
