Nate Berkus Wants to Come Home with You

Although we’re very much in the throes of summer and most of us don’t want it to end any time soon, from a decorating standpoint, there’s absolutely something worth looking forward to this fall.

Celebrity designer Nate Berkus has announced his partnership with Target in the latest of a long, strong, series of designer collaborations with the megachain. We all remember the immediate run that took place when Missoni debuted their Target collection nationwide last year, and those sweet-as-pie dresses from Jason Woo were gone almost as quickly.

We expect nothing less from the home accessories the designer to the stars will introduce across the U.S. this autumn.

Known as much for his small space expertise as for his celebrity connections (see: Oprah), Berkus practices what he preaches, living in a 600-ish-square-foot home in New York himself, redecorating it from the floor up before moving in several years ago. He lives his own design principles in a refreshing illustration of genuine identification with those of us who might not have the means to shop at Barney’s or Neiman Marcus.

Bringing his crisp, clean aesthetic to one of the most accessible stores in the country isn’t just a smart business move from a sales angle; it’s perfect branding, too, giving us all an opportunity to own a piece of his recommendations, which always include a note about making sure we keep it personal, making our homes a reflection of who we are, and not necessarily the people we think others expect us to be.

Three cheers to that! The Nate Berkus Collection debuts at Target on October 21.
