The more I hang out on Pinterest, the more my thumbs I sprout. I’m crafty and all, but I make things like “computers” out of cardboard and duct tape or a “stroller” out of a shoe box and string (it works more like a tug boat than a push boat, if you are wondering).

Not quite the stuff of Pinterest wonder. Yet, I found this site that is perfect for my crafty urges and complete lack of ability: Made By Joel.

It’s actually pretty damn inspiring. There are instructions on toilet paper super hero totem poles (I bet ya that’s something you didn’t think you’d say before having kids!), cardboard crowns and a tree branch broomstick.

Apparently Joel has appeared on Martha Stewart before, so I think I’m showing up a little late to the game. But, he’s new to me, so I figure he might be new to you? Am I right?

Needless to say, since he’s friends with Martha, he’s a creative crafting whiz, so if you consider yourself skilled in this area, then there is plenty (plenty!) to keep your loving hands busy. Plus, you probably have only the requisite 2 thumbs, unlike my hands that are all thumbs.

I especially like the idea of filling summer days – those fast approaching summer days – with a little at home projects. That way, you can put little hands to work (or play). I think kids need as much time focusing and concentrating on making their little fingers work as they need outside cavorting time, don’t you?

I see that Joel just moved, as we are about to (yippee!) so I’m going to stay tuned for easy breezy refrigerator box play houses or whatever he comes up with. Until then, it’ll be the crafts from things around the house, especially those things that need to be tossed anyway!
