If you’ve been trying to help your family lead a more natural lifestyle, Treatment Alternatives for Children by Dr. Lawrence Rosen and Jeff Cohen is a worthwhile home reference.
This book is full of holistic remedies for childhood ailments ranging from cradle cap and teething to acne and bad breath.
Treatment Alternatives for Children is organized to be an accessible reference for busy moms. There’s an alphabetical list of ailments covered in the front.
Each featured condition has a chart that outlines the dosage and common side effects of the treatments that are being recommended.
I really like that the book provides specific brand name examples of the conventional and natural treatments that are suggested. Having a particular product to look for makes it much easier to buy what you need, especially if you end up having to order products online.
Treatment Alternatives for Children covers some of the scientific research behind the natural remedies that are recommended, but the overall tone of the book is still friendly and engaging. The facts are simply there to help you make a more informed decision about the best way to treat your child’s ailment.
Although the book is focused on providing natural remedies that are safe for kids, many of the suggested treatments would be beneficial for Mom and Dad as well.
For example, I’ve had great success using the recommended treatments featured in the “Tummy Troubles” section for my heartburn and acid reflux.
