Ditch the Hair Static
This time of year is tricky for your tresses, no? It seems that no matter how hard you try, there’s static fly-aways everywhere.
Or is that just me?
You can’t help it and it’s not your fault. Truth is, the air outside is drier, and so is the air inside your home. It’s a double whammy.
The good news? You can definitely make it more manageable.
First of all, don’t shampoo everyday. Even when the air isn’t dry, shampooing every single day is bad for your hair. It strips the oils from your hair, which only serves to dry out your hair, which makes it more prone to fly-aways.
And in warmer weather, by stripping the natural oils from your hair, you’re only stimulating your scalp to make additional oils … which then leads to oily hair. Shampooing every day is for the birds. Seriously.
Always use conditioner. This neutralizes the negative-charges found in your hair when it’s full of static, giving it a smooth and silky appearance. And, minimizing those pesky fly-aways.
And finally, ditch the brush. A wide-tooth comb causes far less friction, which means you should see a noticeable decrease in those static-filled tresses.
When in doubt, never leave home without a smoothing serum in your bag; there are several on the market and all it takes is a pea-sized drop to smooth down your do.
