As a new parent, you often wonder what type of diapers to buy. Or, maybe you’re a seasoned parent but aren’t sure what size your little one is in. And really, the weight on the package doesn’t mean much because if your kiddo is tiny through the waist, you’re going to have leakage issues if you go by that (trust me on this one).
So it becomes a guessing game. Pampers? Huggies? Target brand?
You might call your friends, check online message boards, or just grab a package and hope for the best.
But there is a better way; it’s a service called Diaper Dabbler.
Diaper Dabbler sells diaper variety packs, allowing you to try several different brands without fully committing to one. So, in essence, you could use six different brands all in the course of a week and then figure out what brand really is best for your kiddo.
Ranging in price from $18 (the Modest Mama) to $29 (the Mega Mom). The packages range from being filled with store-specific brands (think Target and Costco) to eco-friendly (like Seventh Generation and Honest Company). The packages vary in size with some including 36 diapers while others contain just 18. In all cases, you get three of each brand of diaper.
So, outside of fit, why else would you consider using a service like Diaper Dabbler … particularly when the cost per diaper is on the slightly expensive side?
If you use disposable diapers, it’s important to note that there are breathability issues to consider, as well as chemicals used in the diapers that may irritate sensitive baby skin. You could spend hundreds of dollars just trying to find the “right” diaper for your baby.
In the end, it’s worth it to spend a little extra up-front if it means you can settle on a diaper that fits your baby, your lifestyle, and leaves you free to worry about more important things (for example, did you get enough cuddle time today?).
Check out the Diaper Dabbler website. Would you use a service like this? Do you think it’s a good idea? And, do you think it would make a good shower gift?
