We could all probably use a bit more sunshine in our lives. And if time simply won’t allow us to obtain it physically, the next best thing just might be to set our home awash in a bright, sunny hue to lift our spirits and help us literally lighten up a bit.
The color yellow is clearly a bold choice for home decor, but not an uncommon one. Â Although color theorists believe large amounts of it are known to cause a bit of tension among those sensitive to the psychological effects of the colors surrounding them, we love its iconic nature, evocative of sun-drenched afternoons at the beach, of sunflowers, of school buses and New York City taxi cabs.
Particularly striking when mixed with grey — an unlikely duo that’s enjoyed a star moment on the design scene in the past year or so — it’s a color that wakes us up in the morning and envelops us in warmth. Who doesn’t love that?
