There’s nothing more classic than a good solid stripe. Â Whether it’s curtains, bedding, floor coverings or a simple shift dress, stripes can elongate, pull together, balance out and generally class up a space simply by being used in moderation with the right accent color.
While stripes may come in many forms, wales and styles, there are few things more chic and timeless than an equal-weight, two- or three-tone variation. Any color striped with white in equal measure, especially when presented in a wide wale like the curtains below, lends a sense of competence and continuity to the room in which it stands. Â The fact that it’s slightly preppy in nature is never a bad thing when decorating a place with the goal of achieving an upscale, easy-yet-perfect aesthetic.
The best part? It’s available everywhere, for practically nothing. One could call it the great leveler of chic design.
