Brought Back to Life: Reclaimed Wood Coffee Tables

As we all strive to live productive, textured and enjoyable lives for ourselves and our kids while lessening our negative impact on the world around us (and, eventually, behind us), it can be all too easy to assume that responsibility and fun can be mutually exclusive things.

Likewise, there’s an old stigma that still exists in some realms, telling us that eco-chic wares aren’t as attractive as their less environmentally-friendly predecessors, simply because technology hasn’t yet caught up with design.

In reality, though, the opposite couldn’t be more true; there are staggeringly beautiful designs being made by both high-end, uber-conscious designers… and by us regular joes and jills with an ounce or so of creativity.

Whether it’s ordered through a brand known for green manufacturing and sustainable materials or it’s a DIY project we made from materials at our fingertips and an inspiration point provided by Pinterest (or, perhaps, by yours truly), a vast array of eye-catching furniture exists without having done undue damage to the earth.

Today, we’re focusing on coffee tables, but when it comes to conscious design, the sky’s the limit, and our own walls are the only things constraining us.
