Breast Milk Popsicles for Teething
Not every baby experiences the same symptoms when they teethe. My daughter grew a little fussy but lived through it without much drama. My son, on the other hand, ended up with a fever, diarrhea, and was downright cranky. It was like he was sick.
Once his tooth broke through the gum, he transformed back into my good-natured little boy. I tried gum numbing products to help ease the pain, but didn’t really feel like they helped that much.
My girlfriend’s 7 month old is now working on teeth. He’s drooling enough to soak several shirts a day, chews on his fingers, and pulls his lips in tight until he looks like a Cabbage Patch doll. Instead of turning to traditional solutions to ease his discomfort, my friend has come up with an idea to help ease his swollen gums that’s all natural – breast milk popsicles.
To avoid waste, she found short molds that are only 3″ tall and 1.5″ wide called Tovolo Freezer Jewel Pop Molds. Each one only holds an ounce so they are perfect for the job. The baby’s little fingers grasp the ring handle easily, and he sucks on that frozen treat like it’s a flavored pacifier.
I love this idea because it provides an all-natural solution that does the trick. My girlfriend admits the idea was not her creation. She spotted it somewhere on Facebook. She liked the idea because it offers a teething solution to cool inflamed gums without spreading a numbing product in her son’s mouth with ingredients listed on the tube that she can’t even pronounce.
For those who aren’t breastfeeding, formula can be frozen instead for a teething solution. Either way, these cool treats help to soothe swollen gums.
